Recovering from Back Pain Diagnosed as a Structural Back Problem (Spondylolisthesis and a Congenital Structural Defect)

For the past 20 years I suffered from terrible back pain that severely affected my day-to-day life (I couldn't stand up for more than a few minutes or walk distances of more than a five-minute walk).

In the medical examinations I underwent, including an MRI, I was found to suffer from a birth defect, spondylolisthesis in the L5 vertebra, which could only be treated with surgery. During this period, and in order to avoid surgery, I tried every type of treatment, conventional and alternative, which helped only partially and temporarily.

After 20 years of suffering and disability, with no other alternative, I made an appointment for the surgery. While waiting for the surgery, a doctor at the pain clinic at Hadassah Hospital suggested that I try one last alternative and see Ms. Lihi Lisser.

"At the beginning of the treatment and after understanding the 'behavior of the pain' I understood that the source of the pain was emotional and not physical.
One could say this insight changed my life. I understood that I could, through relating to the pain correctly and with awareness of my feelings and emotions, prevent the physical pain, and that the pain was caused by emotional issues."

Today, after the therapy, the pain appears only once in a while and with lower intensity, and I can control that, too.

I went back to full function with no limitations whatsoever. I learned a ton about myself during therapy. The most significant insight was that physical pain is not necessarily caused by a physiological problem and the appropriate treatment in this case must be to treat the emotional problems and not the physical ones. Lihi's patience, seriousness, and professionalism helped me understand that the solution to the difficult problem I was suffering from was emotional.

In conclusion, with great appreciation, my wife (who suffered greatly from my impaired functioning) and I thank you, Lihi, for dedicated therapy that led to a dramatic change in my quality of life.
