Assess Yourself — Questionnaire for Identifying Neuroplastic Pain
This self-assessment questionnaire is intended for anyone who wants to check if the pain they are experiencing is neuroplastic. It is based on the Self Assessment Questionnaire created by Dr David Clarke, president of the Psychophysiologic Disorder Association (PPDA) and Dr Howard Schubiner.
The questionnaire is intended for those who meet the following two basic conditions:
1. The pain or symptoms have persisted for more than 3-6 months, or, in the case of an injury, beyond the expected recovery time.
2. A medical examination by a physician did not identify any medical problem (structural damage to the body itself) that could cause the pain, such as an illness, a tumor, cancer, a fracture, infection, etc.
The questionnaire doesn’t provide proof that you have neuroplastic pain (Because there is no on objective indicator that), but it can indicate that there is a high probability that you do. The higher the number of positive responses (or even one positive response in the first section), the higher the chance that you have pain with a neurological-emotional cause, and the treatment methods presented on this website might be able to help you.
If you have doubts about the diagnosis, it’s a good idea to see a doctor who is familiar with this diagnosis and can confirm or rule it out.
For further information about the process of diagnosis, see the Diagnosis section of this website.
